This was my first year attending APAC (The Audio Publisher's Association Conference) and The Audies (the oscars of audiobooks) in New York City and it was such a great experience!

It had been a few years since I'd been to New York City and it was absolutely magical to be there with friends. The food, the architecture, the people watching and the energy is unmatched. We had a great time exploring while we were there and soaking up all the walking and sightseeing we could.

APAC brought together publishers, producers, casting directors, and narrators alike for a day filled with inspiring panels and socializing. Occasionally you get to record in studio but most of the time this is a very isolating job, telling stories at home alone in our small booths. To have the chance to be in person in a room with so many narrator friends and finally hug them in real life was incredibly grounding! Not to mention the fact that I was finally able to thank some of the production folks I've worked with and who have sent some incredible books my way. It was a space filled with camaraderie, respect, and friendship.

To close out my 5 day NYC adventure, we got dolled up and attended the Audies. Hosted by the Audio Publisher's Association, we celebrated the audiobook industry at Pier 60 in style. Some of my favorite narrators were there, folks who I look up to and who I'm constantly inspired by. The night reminded me how precious this work we do is, how much it means to so many people, and how badly we need the connection and empathy that books and art provide us with.
