Annalee Scott played "Belle" in a staged reading of the original play "Onaje" written by Robert R. Bowie Jr.
"Onaje" is about a chance meeting between a hitchiker, a cowboy, and a waitress in Reno. When the unlikely trio discovers they are intrinsically linked through long-buried secrets dredged from the past the road trip becomes dangerous. Caught in an explosive encounter, they are forced to confront everything they escaped and stand up against their deepest fears. A class struggle set in two worlds, Maryland 1989, and the civil rights riots on the Eastern shore in 1967, Onaje is a riveting story about working class Americans and the long journey from violent racism to the seed of a hopeful future.
